As a musician, songwriter and producer Robert Powell has worked with many diverse artists from around the world as well as having composed soundtracks for film, television and multi-media. Robert plays a variety of stringed instruments and is known internationally for his innovative approach to the pedal steel guitar.

His past projects include recordings and performances with Ustad Salamat Ali Kahn, Sachiko Kanenobu, Airto Moreira, Girish, Deva Premal, Kingfish, Roy Rogers and Shana Morrison. Through his work with Amnesty International he has produced and recorded with Peter Gabriel, John Lee Hooker and Jackson Browne among others.

Robert is a member of the 'ambient Americana ' group Clothesline Revival as well as the 'trance-groove-jam' band Kundalini Boombox and works with various San Francisco based bands as well including The Venusians, Scrap Pile and Nathan Paine.
